The study programme in a nutshell

Media & Business is one of the five master Media Studies specialisations. As a student of this programme, you will explore the ways in which media firms and other companies adapt to altering business conditions and new modes of communication.

During the master specialisation, you will learn to critically engage with the fast paced technological and organisational changes in media and business. Through real world cases, collaborative projects, and guest lectures with industry professionals, you will have valuable opportunities to explore the intersection of research and practice.

What you will learn

Using different research techniques, you will be able to recognize challenges faced by companies, entrepreneurs and policymakers in the media industries and other business fields. Applying theory to practice will allow you to further develop academic skills such as presentation, analysis, argumentation, and writing. By exploring the impact and the innovative potential of new media technologies on existent business models, you will become an expert in the field.

Master thesis

The final step in the master specialisation is writing your master thesis. Students before you wrote their master thesis on topics such as ‘the branding of sustainable fashion companies’, ‘Humour in crisis communication’, ‘Influencer Credibility in Beauty Marketing on Instagram’, ‘Employee engagement with Corporate Social Responsibility’ , ‘AI use and acceptance in organisations’, ‘Corporate responses to #BlackLives Matter’, to name a few.
