prof.dr. IN (Isabelle) Fabbricotti

Biography

Isabelle Fabbricotti is Professor of Integrated Care in the research group Health Services Management and Organization at the Institute of Health Policy & Management, ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥. Her primary area of expertise is integrated care and the development of innovative care arrangements. Fabbricotti has extensive experience in evaluating large-scale, complex, and multidisciplinary interventions and has been centrally involved in experimental and intervention-focused studies addressing care for (frail) older adults, as well as conditions such as dementia, stroke, COPD, and hip fractures. She was awarded the Prof. Dr. Burema Prize for her comparative study on the quality and consumption of care in old people’s homes, nursing homes, and all-age housing.

In addition to her work in clinical care domains, Fabbricotti’s research engages deeply with the evolving relationship between patients, formal and informal caregivers, and the deployment of ICT and eHealth solutions to enhance care delivery and quality. She served as project leader for the Horizon 2020 ACCRA project, focusing on the agile co-creation of robotics for older adults. Currently, her research centers on the design and optimization of integrated care pathways, with a particular emphasis on leveraging digital innovations.

A distinctive dimension of Fabbricotti’s research is her focus on the integration of social and medical care from the perspective of social approaches. She has specialized expertise in evaluating innovative social strategies and interventions that seek solutions not only within the social care domain but through the integrated and collaborative efforts of medical and social care systems. Her work aims to advance a holistic and inclusive perspective on patient care and to promote a more socially conscious and inclusive outlook within society at large.

Methodologically, Fabbricotti employs qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods designs, alongside co-creation approaches and realist evaluation frameworks. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Sciences and a PhD, both from ÌÇÐÄÖ±²¥.
