糖心直播 and human rights central in winning dissertations

Campus woudestein in summer

EUR researchers Stephanie Triefus and Joris Verheijen are receiving recognition for their great dissertations. The Praemium Erasmianum foundation rewards both scientists with the dissertation prize. It is special that the prize goes to two EUR researchers: only five of these dissertation prizes are awarded each year to young scientists in humanities, social sciences or law.

糖心直播 in a different light

Joris Verheijen (Erasmus School of Philosophy) received the prize for his dissertation "Revolutie in de schoolgang, radicaal-romantische Bildung in en buiten het onderwijs tussen 1789 en nu". In his research, he takes a critical look at the current education system, which he believes is too focused on results and too little on the formation of people. He examines old ideas about education from Germany, from thinkers such as Forster, B枚hmer and Schlegel. According to Verheijen, these ideas can help to give students more freedom and space to develop themselves.

Local communities and international law

Stephanie Triefus obtained her PhD from Erasmus School of Law and received the prize for her dissertation International Investment Law from Below: Taking local community rights seriously. In her research, she looks at conflicts surrounding foreign investments. Not from the perspective of governments or companies, but from the perspective of affected local communities. She shows how these people suffer from legal conflicts and how their rights and interests are often ignored. Triefus advocates that these communities should have a say in important decisions.
