Can tomorrow's education still be organized on today's campus? What should the development of our campus look like? Which trends will influence how the campus is utilized? How does this align with our renewed educational vision? What do students, teachers and staff need? How could our university better facilitate studying on campus? Help us design the ideal future campus!
Future campus
The highlights the social component of learning on campus and the importance of creating more spaces where students can actively participate and collaborate. But focused learning and relaxing between studying are also important. How should these learning spaces and our overall campus be designed to ensure that the teaching activities of the lecturers, the study activities of the students, and the supporting services align seamlessly and function optimally?
Erasmian campus
Inspired by the ideas of our namesake, Erasmus University shapes its identity and approach to thinking and action. ‘Being an Erasmian’ stands for global citizenship, social engagement, and an open and critical mindset. We proudly pursue this in the ‘Erasmian way’: entrepreneurial, innovative, connecting through the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, collaborative, action-oriented, and when needed, unconventional and bold. However, all these ‘Erasmian values’ also place demands on our learning and working environment. If we truly want to educate students to become open-minded, entrepreneurial, socially engaged global citizens who build connections, our campus must support this mission. Erasmian values therefore require a forward-looking Erasmian campus.
Vision development
A strong vision is created through co-creation with those involved. That’s why in 2024 we developed a vision in collaboration with support staff, lecturers, and students. We identified what campus users believe is needed at Woudestein Campus to optimally support studying. The vision document serves as inspiration for Erasmus University to make the campus student- and staff-friendly, future-proof, and ‘sticky’ - a place where students and staff genuinely want to be and stay. For students and lecturers, a pleasant campus is essential; it stimulates learning and networking and fosters a sense of community and belonging. The vision will be shared in 2025.
Co-creation space
From 15 until 21 February 2024, we were present in the Theil Hall with a pop-up co-creation space. Students and employees where welcome to join and to brainstorm about their ideal campus.
